In the Røros region, it is possible to hunt for grouse and other game such as elk and wild reindeer. With its many lakes, ponds, rivers and brooks, the area is a paradise for anglers, in both winter and summer.
Remember to buy a copy of ’The Fishing Guide’ and a fishing permit at the tourist office, in shops, petrol stations or at the ‘fjellstyre’ office in Holtålen.
The Gaula is one of Norway’s best salmon rivers. The Glomma is Norway’s longest river, with excellent opportunities to catch grayling and trout. In Hodalssjøene and Holavassdraget, the trout can reach a weight of up to 6-7 kilos.
